FLORIN DOBRE'S studio IS LOCATED IN BUCHAREST, IN A ONCE FAMOUS ROMANIAN SHOE FACTORY.
UNLIKE HIS STYLE, THE WORKSHOP DOESN'T LOOK EXTRAVAGANT AND IS RATHER SMALL.
HOWEVER, IT'S EQUIPPED WITH EVERYTHING HE NEEDS IN ORDER TO CRAFT HIS FINE GARMENTS.
Dobre usually picks the materials that accurately enable his ideas to take shape. Sometimes it's the material that inspires him to create a new outfit
He plays with a lot of colors and textures, and he doesn't confine himself to textiles
Everyday life experiences, taboo subjects, the people I meet and the places I visit — this is where I find my ideas. Movies are also a great muse. Two of my collections have their creative roots in Sergio Leone's "Once Upon a Time in America" and Purcarete's "Somewhere in Palilula".
His tailoring style often resembles classic, or what he elusively calls, “real fashion” - a line that accentuates the man's silhouette - mixed with nonconformity and creative freedom. By adding a twist of his own personal code of elegance, Dobre transforms every garment into an aesthetic statement
ANA HAS WORKED WITH DOBRE SINCE 2012, BUT THEIR FRIENDSHIP DATES BACK 10 YEARS AND BEGAN IN CONSTANTA, THEIR COMMON BIRTHPLACE. JUST LIKE DOBRE, SHE USED TO MAKE HER OWN CLOTHES AND TO THIS DAY THEY SHARE A PASSION FOR THE ART OF FASHION DESIGN.
Ana is a great professional: a skilled crafter, immensely focused on details. With her help, I've become more efficient and increased the volume of production
Florin Dobre’s designs target men almost exclusively. He brings a highly appreciated focus on the masculine style, something that has otherwise been notoriously underrepresented in Romanian fashion. His clothes express a keen interest in underground culture, avant-garde and the unconventional lifestyle, but are, nonetheless, dandy and authentic
